Recipe for Bars

Sorry no pictures to post YET. I have one more card class this week, and I will post pictures of our projects after Wed. morning.

I did get a lot of requests for the bars I served during class. There is a little background to these bars!! When I was in HIGH SCHOOL (don't make me figure out how many years ago that was!!) I used to work in a grocery store. The bakery there made these AWESOME bars. I remember asking the manager there if I could get the recipe to the bars (so MY MOM could make them for us. LOL) We got the recipe and it is still a hit in our family!! Here it is! Oh great, I just thought of this, I hope I don't get in trouble for publishing this recipe!! Maybe there is like a 25-year rule, kind of like the 5-second rule if you drop something on the ground???

I know, I'll make up a different name for them. Now I will be able to sleep at night.

The new name for this recipe is: Lorri's Yummy Gooey Bars!

1 C. sugar
1/4 t. salt
1 C. light Karo syrup
1 1/2 C. peanut butter

Melt these on the stove (don't let it boil, though)

Add:
3 1/2 C. corn flakes
1 C. peanuts
1/4 t. vanilla

Stir together, press in a jelly roll pan. Frost with 1 bag of Nestle's toll house morsels and one bag of Nestle's butterscotch chips that have been melted together on low. Cool in refrigerator until frosting is set.

These bars sound gooood! TFS. Is Karo syrup same as corn syrup?

Yep, Karo is the same as corn syrup. :)

These sound awesome! Quick question ... do you leave the corn flakes and peanuts whole or are they crushed/chopped? Thanks, Debbie

The corn flakes and peanuts are whole. When I stir it I just try to be careful not to crunch them all up. :)
